Adoption Information

Learn more about how to adopt your own loving Ragdoll

Adoption Process

STEP ONE:

Submit a Kitten Application

At Pearl’s Ragdolls, you must submit a kitten application to be considered for adoption. New kitten applications open once a litter has been born. To stay up to date with when kitten applications open, please subscribe to my mailing list below. My mailing list will be the first to hear when I am accepting new kitten applications.

STEP TWO:

Reserve Your Perfect Kitten

If your application is selected for adoption, you will be given the opportuntity to reserve your kitten. In order to reserve a kitten, a $500 deposit is required. This deposit will be deducted from the final kitten cost. Deposits are non-refundable, but they can be transferred to future litters. All money towards the kitten cost must be paid at least 10 days prior to the kitten’s go home date. Acceptable forms of payment are PayPal or Venmo.

Note: I am required by the State of Texas law to collect sales tax on all kittens sold to Texas residents only.

STEP THREE:

Sign the Adoption Agreement

After you reserve and your kitten is selected, I will send an adoption contract to be electronically signed by myself and the kitten purchaser. This contract must be signed at least 10 days prior to the kitten’s go home date. This contract includes my 2 year health guarantee against genetic diseases as well as other conditions of sale. Please read our conditions of sale at the bottom of this page before you purchase a kitten.

STEP FOUR:

Prepare for Your New Kitten’s Arrival

By the time you reserve your kitten, he or she will be ready to come home to you in about 12 weeks (at a minimum of 14 weeks of age). This gives you approximately three months to get ready for the arrival of your new kitten.

Make sure you are ready for the pick-up or delivery of your kitten. I do not offer shipping so you must pick up your kitten at my home in Fort Worth, TX or hire a pet flight nanny to bring the kitten to you. A company I have used before is PetJetPals on Facebook. People from other countries may apply for my kittens, but they still must arrange the kittens delivery themself.

Start getting all your kitten supplies ready for when your kitten comes home. Please check out my Ragdoll Cat Breed page for information about caring for your kitten and check out my Products We Love page for what supplies you will need: toys, cat tree, food, litter box, etc.

Book an appointment with a veterinarian. Start looking for a veterinary to take your new kitten to for a health exam. Many veterinarians have busy schedules, so I suggest booking an appointment at least 10 days before your kitten’s go home date which is at 14 weeks of age. Your kitten must be seen by a veterinarian within 72 hours of you taking possession of the kitten.

I recommend also setting up an appoint with your veterinarian to give your kitten the Rabies vaccine and 3rd FVRCP. Your kitten will not receive these vaccines before they go to their new home, because your kitten will be to young to be given this vaccine.

Lastly, think about what name you want to give your kitten. Once you register your kitten with TICA, you will not be able to change the name within the registry.

STEP FIVE:

Add Your New Ragdoll to the Family

Congratulations on adding a new kitten to your family! Get ready for a playful little fluff ball that will bring you endless joy and love! Be sure to place your kitten in a bathroom or small area with its food, water, and litter box ready when they first arrive. A calm environment will help ease the kitten’s stress from traveling.

Pricing

Pricing of each kitten is determined by the quality of the kitten’s color and pattern in accordance with the standard set by TICA. Pricing is not dependent on a kitten’s gender or personality.

Occasionally, I will sell kittens with breeding rights to registered established catteries that follow a lot of the same practices as myself. If interested in a breeding quality kitten, you may reach out to me for pricing.

Other Pets Policy

“The seller is not responsible for any injury or illness to other pets caused by exposure to it.”

If you have other pets, I suggest slowly introducing your new kitten to them. Keep a watchful eye to make sure they don’t harm each other.

Re-homing Policy

“Under no circumstances will this cat/kitten be sold, leased, or given away to any pet store, animal shelter, research laboratory, breeding mill, or similar facility.”

This policy is very important. DO NOT resell or give away your Ragdoll to any of these facilities. When you adopt a Ragdoll, you are adopting a forever friend. I do understand sometimes circumstances change and people must re-home their Ragdoll. Please contact me if you cannot find a good home. I will gladly help you find them a good home or take them myself.

Indoor Only Requirement

“This cat/kitten will be kept indoors and will not be allowed to roam freely outdoors.”

Ragdolls are typically not fighters. They should not be allowed outside unless supervised.

Pet vs. Breeder Cat Policy

“If this cat/kitten is purchased as a pet, it is agreed that the seller will have the kitten altered before the take home date.

If this cat/kitten is sold with the understanding that it will be used breeding purposes. Seller guarantees that said animal is fertile and will produce at least 2 viable kittens before the age of three years. If after 3 breeding attempts with at least two different proven breeder cats, no pregnancy occurs, then said animal will be replaced by the seller.”

All kittens will be neutered/spayed before leaving my home unless they are bought for breeding purposes.

Declaw Policy

“The Purchaser agrees this kitten is not to be declawed or all health guarantees are voided. This cattery feels this surgery is very inhumane and does not agree with this practice.”

DO NOT declaw you cat/kitten. If you do, all health guarantees outlined above will be voided.

“Purchaser understands that if there are any issues with this kitten, the Seller should be immediately notified in writing by email. Purchaser should make every effort to keep Seller informed of issues and work with the Seller to resolve any issue. Purchaser agrees to abide by this contract and not post negative comments in any public forum and/or file credit-card charge-backs or PayPal disputes so long as the Seller stands behind and honors Seller’s obligations under the terms of this contract.”
